Teahouse appeared in the Chinese latter-day society commonly. And the teahouses in lower valley of Yangtes River are notable for their unique social significance.
Orientated from Qing Dynasty (1855 AD), “San wan chang”has a long history in tea industry. Because of the problem of high age, the founder –Mr. ShengYao Ming sold the teahouse to his neighbor Mr. Miu Cheng Fu. “San wan chang” means lots of prosperity and to be prosperous forever. The teahouse used to situate on the right of Xuan Miao Guan Daoism temple. It had three chambers and the backdoor leaded to Da Chen Xiang alley. Furnishing hundreds of tea tables and a stage, it served as a bar and people enjoyed tea, talking and story-telling here. As a result, whenever people think about drinking tea, “San wan chang” will come into their mind.
Teahouse was an entertainment place; it also played an important part in business talking and information collecting and served as a place where scholars exchanged ideas of social science there. At that time, the “San wan chang” enjoyed the most glorious reputation and influence in the city of SuZhou.; it had the name “information center in the cities between Shanghai and Naming.”, “the heart of Sushi economy”. Before liberation, price went up like a skyrocket, everything was in disorder, “San wan chang” slipped out of people’s mind, but after liberation, the family Shao transferred the teahouse to the government, and it did a lot in standardizing the market.
Later, to spread the Chinese culture, the government rebuilt Guan Ian Street --- “the first street in Sushi, and reenroll the lots of the bands with a long history. With the help of the government, the tea lovers and the board chairman of the teahouse invested greatly and brought “San wan chang” to its former splendor. Only in the GuanQian Street area—the center of Suzhou down town, it has 4 branches to sell tea, with the business place of over 800 sq. meters and over 70 employees. We have all kinds of the best tea in China, Such as “Bi Lou Chun” from the Donating lake (the second best green tea in China), “Long Jin” from the west lake (the most famous Chinese green tea), “Mao Fang” from the Huang Shan mountain, advanced Tie Guan Yin (famousness oolong tea of China) and crusted “Up Err tea” etc. there are over 1000 kinds available. And the teahouse of “San wan chang” in Guan Qian locates the opposite of Xuan Miao Guan Daoism temple. With a graceful environment and delicate service, it has always been the best place for business and entertainment. San wan chang has been a tea industry band deeply rooted in all the hearts of Suzhou people. With a glorious history, it succeeds in keeping pace with the modern life
